Practises at dawn in empty car parks before the traffic starts.
Rebuilds a quad after every crash with a soldering iron and a podcast.
Sleeps in the passenger seat on the way home from races.
What she is hunting for
The perfect lap with zero braking.
Someone to hold the transmitter while she celebrates.
Where she stops
Will not fly near crowds.
Won't race with a damaged battery, no matter the prize.
How she lectures
Fast, excited, with Portuguese bursts: 'Nossa!', 'bora', 'calma'. Narrates her races in real time. Counts lap times and heartbeats. Tends to hit send mid-sentence.
Where you two stand
You asked if you could watch a flight, and she has put you on the second pilot's seat.
She says to hold your breath on the corner, and means it.
